Eigentlich sollte es ein idyllischer Sommer für Eve Thorogood und ihre Familie werden. Für ein paar Wochen in der Sonne Australiens den Alltagsstress in der amerikanischen Heimat vergessen - was hätte groß schief laufen können? Richtig: Ein psychopathischer Serienmörder sorgt für Terror und tötet alle Familienmitglieder außer Eve. Die Protagonistin kann dem Gestörten gerade so entkommen, beschließt jedoch nicht endgültig die Flucht zu ergreifen. Ganz im Gegenteil sogar: Fest entschlossen, den sadistischen Taten des Killers ein Ende zu setzen, sinnt sie auf Rache und nimmt die Axt selbst in die Hand.
