Badou, der Enkel des Elefantkönigs Babar, lebt gemeinsam mit seiner Familie im Königreich Celesteville in der Nähe des Dschungels. Seine besten Freunde sind das Affenmädchen Chiku, das Stachelschwein Munroe, Zebra Zawadi, und Fitz, der kleine Fuchs. Der bestens gelaunte kleine Elefant muss unter anderem die Intrigen des zwielichtigen Botschafters Krokodilus verhindern und sich gegen die gemeinen Streiche dessen Neffen Theo und Dieter wehren. König Babar bremst den hyperaktiven Enkel dabei gelegentlich, hilft bei der Problemlösung und vermittelt ihm wertvolle Lektionen über das Leben, Vertrauen, Freundschaft oder Selbsteinschätzung.
