Episode 1
This episode follows the story of Ryner Lute, a lazy, sleepy student from Roland Empire Magician’s Academy. While Ryner is searching for relics of the so-called ‘legendary heroes’, he is confronted with soldiers from the Nelpha Empire, who use Nelphan magic in an attempt to kill Ryner, thinking he is a spy. But Ryner, using his Alpha Stigma, an ability in which he uses his eyes to analyse forms of magic, copies their magic, and counterattacks. Not wanting the enemy to learn and copy any secrets of their own magic, the Nelphan soldiers stop attacking. Suddenly, Ferris Eris, a young, beautiful girl from the Swords-Clan comes to Ryner’s aid. Though she was too late to stop the attack, she begins to explain to the Nelphans that Ryner couldn’t possibly be a spy. While Ryner was busy arguing with Ferris about “what does it make you, following that fop around”, the Nelphans attack yet again, this time Ferris showing them not to mess with a swordswoman.

Episode 2
Sion, a student at Roland Royal Special Military School decides to form a team with Ryner and some other students for mock battle training. While going to the library to research, he discovers Ryner, asleep at a desk. The next morning at the academy’s exercise field, the students practise battle skills, with the exception of Ryner, who is still half asleep. Kiefer, a female student is training with Ryner, but each spell hits Ryner directly. Putting no effort whatsoever into training, Ryner collapses in a heap on the ground, playing dead. Sion walks over and offers him a place on his team. At first, Ryner declines, thinking he is being joked around. But when Sion says “I like your eyes”, referring to Ryner’s Alpha Stigma, Ryner realises Sion is being serious. Sion, Ryner and the rest of their team begin the mock battle training. The first mission is an easy win for the team, and they celebrate afterwards, toasting to their success.

Episode 3
Ferris and her little sister, Iris, are interrogating one of the nobles behind the plot to assassinate Sion, when suddenly, Ferris’s brother appears and kills him. He tells her that they must decide whether Sion would be suitable as the king, and that he couldn’t possibly return alive after heading into battle and facing 50 magic knights. Then, as suddenly as he appeared, he vanished into this air. Meanwhile, the students are preparing the base for the battle ahead. Ryner is meant to be setting up tents ready for nightfall, but as usual, he is tired, lazy, and lies on the grass, refusing to help. Ryner walks over to and sits beside her. After begging Ryner to run away with her, she confesses her love for him. He believes it’s all a hoax, and tells her to quit joking around at a time like this, during the war. She agrees, and bids him farewell, walking through the tall grass. As soon as she leaves, the Magic Knights of Estabul attack the camp, and Ryner discovers the body of one of the classmates. While trying to stall the knights and protect the surviving students, Sion is captured. Forced to see his friends brutally beaten amidst the shredded bodies of his classmates, Ryner goes berserk and slaughters the enemy forces, nearly killing his friends as well.

There, he meets Ferris, whom he hasn’t seen for over two years, and has forgotten. She however remembers him, and when she tells him her duty is to help him escape, he believes it is a trick, and attacks her. He is soon shown not to mess with her, and continues on towards the Roland Kingdom Palace. He discovers that much has occurred during the past two years, and since his imprisonment, Sion has become King.
