Cha Dae Woong ist ein verwöhnter Junge, der kein Interesse am College hat und lieber ein Schauspieler werden möchte. Sein Großvater hält davon allerdings wenig und will, dass er ordentlich lernt. Als er ihn sogar dazu zwingen möchte, läuft Cha Dae Woong weg und landet schließlich an einem Tempel, wo ein alter Mönch ihm Obdach gewährt. Als er versucht, seine Tante anzurufen, hört er plötzlich eine seltsame Frauenstimme in seinem Handy, die ihm befielt, dem Fuchs in den alten Gemälde des Tempels 9 Schwänze zu zeichnen. Ohne es zu wissen, hat er damit einen Gumiho befreit, der 500 Jahre in dem Gemälde eingesperrt war. Ihm war nicht klar, was er getan hat, bis ihm der Gumiho, in Form eines schönen Mädchens, erscheint und von da an auf Schritt und Tritt folgt. Der Legende nach frisst ein Gumiho (neunschwänziger Fuchs) die Leber von jungen Männern.
