Ein Teehaus, irgendwo in Yokohama: Der Sohn des Gouverneurs und seine Kumpane lassen es sich gut gehen. Zum Leidwesen der anderen Gäste. Auch die erst 15-jährige Kellnerin Fuu fühlt sich belästigt. Als dann auch noch der wilde Mugen auftaucht, liegt Ärger in der Luft. Mit dem Erscheinen des Samurais Jin eskaliert die Situation endgültig. Jin fordert Mugen zum Kampf. Im Verlauf des Duells merken die Kontrahenten bald, dass sie es zum ersten Mal in ihrem Leben mit einem ebenbürtigen Gegner zu tun haben. Doch noch bevor einer von ihnen den Sieg davontragen kann, werden sie verhaftet und kurzerhand zum Tode verurteilt. Nur Fuu kann die beiden Männer retten – unter einer Bedingung: Sie sollen sie begleiten. Denn Fuu befindet sich auf der Suche: Auf der Suche nach einem mysteriösen Samurai, „der nach Sonnenblumen duftet“

Fuu is a part-time teahouse worker whose life changes forever when two vagabond warriors, Mugen and Jin, stumble into her place of business and end up in hot water with the local magistrate.

When Mugen wounds an enemy's arm, it sets off a dangerous chain reaction. Fuu is kidnapped, and two deadly assassins are dispatched to make short work of vagabond Mugen and ronin Jin.
