Sakamichi Onoda ist ein verweichlichter Neuling an einer Oberschule, der vollkommen vernarrt in Anime ist. Onoda Sakamichi, a diehard anime fan, bikes 90 kilometers to and from Akiba to buy anime goods. Enrolled at Chiba Sohoku Public High School, he plans to join the anime club, hoping to make friends.

Shinkai's demon sprint allows Hakone to slowly pull ahead of Sohoku even further. Not wanting to lose any ground or teammates, the seniors of Sohoku step to the front of the line and decide to rotate the lead while gaining ground.

The teams reach the final climb of Day 3, a massive mountain stage. Hakone makes it's move and sends Manami, Toudou, and Fukutomi up the final mountain.

Naruko refuses to give up the lead as Sohoku races up the mountain. He uses his sprinters climb to help the team gain momentum, and just as he appears to be tired Naruko decides to debut his new move: the Armstrong Climb. Naruko's spirit ignites to crowd to cheer for Sohoku, but it has some unexpected consequences.

Thanks to Naruko's sacrifice Sohoku manages to catch Hakone. Fukutomi admits he thought Sohoku would fall apart and yet they managed to catch up, but he says they can never prevail without a true ace. Imaizumi declares that he is the new ace and he will take first.

Midosuji catches up to Onoda and company and is able to get ahead of the ace climbers. Seeing no other choice Toudou sends Manami ahead to keep Midosuji contained.

Episode 18
Manami reveals how he has advanced so far in races, by using nature and feeling it out. When he senses a gust of wind coming Manami uses it to propel himself ahead of Midosuji.

Episode 19
Onoda fails to hold off Midosuji. Then he remembers the words from Naruko about how he clings to someone when racing and doesn't let go. Onoda begins to cling to the back of Midosuji's bike and is tricked into running off the road by Midosuji.

Sakamichi reaches the lead pack and joins Imaizumi, and the pair reaffirms their desire to win. Without a moment's delay, Midousuji begins his attack!

Episode 21
Midousuji attacks again and again, and Imaizumi holds him back. As their battle gains speed, the race enters the Fuji Azami Line's only downhill section!

When Imaizumi's frame breaks during his battle against Midousuji, Manami quickly overtakes him. Realizing he cannot catch Manami himself, he entrusts Sakamichi with the soul of Sohoku.

Steeling his resolve, Sakamichi and Imaizumi race their pace. Meanwhile, at the lead pack, in contrast with Hakone Academy, Kyoto Fushimi, and Kumamoto Daiichi, Naruko battles alone, believing his teammates will catch up!

Die Ziellinie des zweiten Tages des Inter-Highs rückt immer näher. Das Rennen zwischen Imaizumi, Yuto und Midousuji spitzt sich zu! Imaizumi sprengt seine Grenzen und fährt den anderen davon. Währenddessen erinnert sich Midousuji an einen Besuch bei seiner Mutter im Krankenhaus, um sich seinen Sieg noch deutlicher vor Augen zu führen. Yuto hingegen denkt an die Zeit zurück, als er noch unbeschwert mit seinem älteren Bruder Hayato Rad fuhr. „Habt ihr gehört, dass der Dämon von Hakones Geraden einen jüngeren Bruder haben soll?“ Yuto wird genau wie sein Bruder zu einem Sprint-Dämon! Wer wird diesen Kampf kurz vor dem Ziel für sich entscheiden?

It's the night of the second day of the Inter-High. Sakamichi encounters Hakone Academy alum Toudou Jinpachi on a mountain road, who says he's riding because he received a call from someone. That man is... Makishima Yuusuke! As Sakamichi experiences a mix of surprise and joy, Makishima and Toudou begin to race! They tie again and again as they race a second, then a third time... Sakamichi's emotions rise as he watches them. After their race, Makishima tells Onoda to stay true to himself, and Onoda's resolve is renewed. Meanwhile, Manami's competitive spirit also swells upon hearing Toudou's words.

The 3rd and final day of the tournament in which Sakamichi and Team Sohoku compete for their second consecutive championship arrives, and Sakamichi pedals as hard as he can to catch up to Imaizumi as quickly as possible.

Während Hakone einen guten Start in der letzten Etappe hingelegt hat, hinken die Jungs aus Kyōto deutlich hinterher. Anders als die anderen können sie zu zweit aber auch keine Gruppe bilden, um schneller voranzukommen. Eine unangehme Situation für die Gewinner der zweiten Etappe.

Midousuji’s strategy turns the rear pack into a giant swarm of piranhas. They swallow up riders one after another and eventually begin attacking the Sohoku and Hakone Academy teams that have been working together! Amidst the turmoil and confusion, Teshima is swallowed up by the pack. They desperately search for their partner, but betrayed by Midousuji, the pack loses speed. However, Teshima finds a ray of hope when he meets up with Aoyagi who falls back to help him. With well-coordinated teamwork, they chase after the riders ahead of them!

Teshima and Aoyagi break away from the pack to pursue the riders ahead of them, but Kyoto Fushimi stands in their way. Teshima and Aoyagi win their sprint race against Kyoto Fushimi and rejoin their team. Sakamichi enjoys racing with all six of his team members, but it doesn’t last long. Aoyagi’s legs, which have been pulling the team with all their might in order to catch up to Hakone Academy, have been in pain since the previous day and are nearing their limit. Kaburagi can’t hold back his tears as he watches the upperclassman’s back. By taking on Aoyagi’s hopes and racing for the team, Kaburagi experiences great personal growth of his own.

Final Road!
Sent off by their sprinters, both teams enter the final mountains. Sohoku suffers repeated attacks from Hakone Academy and its four climbers, but through the efforts of sprinter-turned-allrounder Naruko, they make it through somehow. However, when they enter the flats between the peaks, Hakone Academy’s captain Izumida pulls his team, and they suddenly accelerate! Ace sprinter Izumida’s finely-honed muscles and spear-like racing leave Sohoku behind in an instant!

Teshimas Anweisung
Am Tag vor der dritten Etappe hat Teshima sich eine Strategie zurechtgelegt, um auch den schlimmsten Fall zu meistern. Dieser Plan kommt zwar nicht ohne Opfer aus, aber die Jungs der Sōhoku sind bereit, alles zu geben, um den Sieg zu erringen.

Der Schulwechsler
Bei ihrem Duell während der Bergetappe denken Teshima und Ashikiba an ihre gemeinsame Schulzeit zurück. In der Grundschule ist Ashikiba nach Chiba gezogen, wo er sich schnell mit Teshima anfreundete. Die beiden teilen ihre Hobbys miteinander, auch wenn sie in manchen Dingen verschiedene Ansichten haben.

Schallende Vibrationen
Teshima und Ashikiba erreichen die letzten Meter der Bergetappe. Bei beiden Jungs kommen auf dieser Strecke gemischte Gefühle auf und sie denken an ihre gemeinsame Vergangenheit zurück.

Der Himmel oben
Bei ihrem eigenen Wettrennen um den Sieg bei der Bergetappe lassen Teshima und Ashikiba ihre Freundschaft aus der Mittelschule wieder aufleben. Gerade für Ashikiba ist das eine gute Gelegenheit, sich mit seinen Fehltritten auseinanderzusetzen.

Überfall
Da die Bergetappe entschieden ist, liegt es nun am Rest des Teams der Sōhoku, den Gesamtsieg einzuholen. Gerade als der Kampf gegen Hakone jedoch an Fahrt aufnimmt, meldet sich ein Fahrer, mit dem niemand an der Spitze mehr gerechnet hat.

Shinkai Yūtos Entschluss
Während der letzten 10 Kilometer kommt es nun auf jeden Zentimeter an. Yūto versteht endlich, worauf es beim Teamsportankommt, und versucht, Midōsuji aufzuhalten. Doch das ist nicht das einzige Duell, das auf der „Zielgeraden“ stattfindet.

Um Midōsuji einzuholen, fährt Naruko an der Grenze seiner Kräfte. Zum Glück hat er zwei gute Freunde, die ihn tatkräftig unterstützen.

Der plötzliche Platzregen macht dem Kampf um die Führung noch spannender, aber auch gefährlicher. Trotzdem lassen sich weder Imaizumi noch Midōsuji unterkriegen.

Die letzte Anweisung
Imaizumi wins the battle in the rain and rides in the lead. Sakamichi catches up to him, and Sugimoto and the other supporting members cheer for Team Sohoku as they ride alone in the lead. While Sohoku goes for the one-two finish, Kuroda and Manami of Hakone Academy close in from behind. Kuroda sends off Manami, who instantly jumps into the lead. The dangerous situation leaves Sakamichi bewildered, but there's only one thing he can do for the team. Imaizumi gives him the final order of taking their jersey to the finish line, and Sakamichi chases after Manami at full power...!

Im Aquarium im Mai
Two kilometers from the finish line, Sakamichi receives his final orders from Imaizumi and is entrusted with winning the race. He steels his resolve and chases after Manami. In early spring before the Inter-High, Sakamichi and Manami bump into each other at the aquarium Team Sohoku visited on their way back from a race. There they promise to go all out against each other at the summer's Inter-High. When they end up racing for the finish line on the final day, despite their bewilderment and their teams' victories weighing upon them, they are delighted by their fated race against each other.

Manami erinnert sich an sein Gespräch mit Kuroda, kurz bevor er zu Sakamichi aufgeholt hatte. So wird Manami erneut bewusst, wie wichtig dieses Rennen für Kuroda ist und schöpft erneut Kraft für den Zielsprint.

Kurz bevor Manami die Zielgerade erreicht, denkt Suzuko an den Inter High im letzten Jahr zurück. Die Niederlage damals war niederschmetternd für ihn.

Kinjōs letzter Job
Arataki geht davon aus, dass Manami wahrscheinlich das Duell auf der Endgeraden gewinnen wird. Als Grund nennt er, dass dieser mehr durchgemacht hat. Kinjō weiß allerdings, dass auch Onodas Rennrad-Karriere kein Ponyhof war.

Beim Endspurt traut Arakita Onoda den Sieg zunächst nicht zu, aber der Zweitklässler aus Chiba hat noch eine letzte Quelle, aus der er Kraft schöpft. Das Duelle zwischen ihm und Manami geht auf die Zielgerade!
