Arthur refuses to sell newfangled cronuts and macchiatos or renovate his dated shop that hasn’t changed since it opened in 1969. That all changes when enterprising go-getter Franco fast-talks his way into Arthur’s life as his new (and only) employee, and convinces him that he can bring the shop – and Arthur – into the 21st century.

Eine scharfe Idee
When Franco’s creative new donut flavors become bestsellers, Arthur tries to prove he’s still relevant by coming up with a unique one of his own. Also, Fawz works to dream up an inventive password in order to keep Maya and James from stealing his store’s WiFi.

Crime Time
Franco encourages Arthur to increase his security when Fawz’s dry-cleaning store is robbed, but becomes concerned when Arthur buys a gun. Also, Tush offers Maya his personal approach to protecting herself.

Arthur is reluctant to allow Franco to make the shop's bank deposit; James regrets confiding in Randy after she shares an embarrassing secret about him with other cops at the station.

Arthurs freier Tag
Arthur und Franco geraten in eine erhitzte Diskussion darüber, ob Franco in der Lage wäre, ein Geschäft zu führen. Die unglaublichen Rassisten
Franco wird auf der Straße ohne besonderen Anlass von einem Polizisten angehalten und muss eine Durchsuchung über sich ergehen lassen. Diese Art von allgemeiner Verdächtigung gegen junge Schwarze bringt ihn auf die Palme. So wird die Idee entwickelt, dass sich Bürger und Polizisten im „Superior Donuts“ sozusagen auf neutralem Grund treffen könnten und ins Gespräch kommen, um das beiderseitige Verständnis zu verbessern.
Allerdings wird während der Veranstaltung eine Sport-Antiquität, ein signierter Baseball, gestohlen. Arthur hat Francos Bekannten Malcolm im Verdacht, der sich seiner Meinung nach an dem Abend auffällig für den Baseball interessiert habe. Der Mann ohne Krankenversicherung
Als Franco bei der Arbeit von einer Leiter stürzt, verletzt er sich den Fuß. Da er keine Krankenversicherung hat und sich einen Arztbesuch als „Privatpatient“ nicht leisten kann, sammeln die Stammkunden des „Superior Donuts“ für ihn. Doch Franco ist zu stolz, das Geld anzunehmen. Auch Arthur gesteht ein, dass er schon lange nicht mehr beim Arzt war.
Parallel nimmt Tush an einem bezahlten Medikamententest teil und durchlebt ungewöhnliche Nebenwirkungen. (Text: bmk)

Geh ran, Arthur
Seitdem er verwitwet ist, hat Arthur keine Frau in seinem Leben mehr gehabt. Als Randys gleichsam verwitwete Mutter Ellen in der Stadt ist, kommen sich die beiden bisher platonischen Freunde auch romantisch näher.
Fawz hat mitbekommen, dass Tush von einer Frau einen Check über 600 Dollar erhalten hat und ist neugierig, für welche Dienstleistung der Lohn wohl ist. (Text: bmk)

Painted Love
Francos Freund Bam Bam ist tot. Obwohl Bam Bam ein Gangmitglied war, hatte er doch einen positiven Einfluss für Franco, insbesondere indem er dessen künstlerisches Talent erkannte und ihn daraufhin vom Beitritt in eine Gang abhielt. Franco will dem Freund ein Bild widmen, doch was er an die Vorderwand des „Superior Donut“ malt, erfreut weder Arthur noch den den Vorsitzenden der „Uptown Business Association“ – Fawz. Wage Againts The Machine
Franco kommt mit seinem Job mit Mindestlohn im „Superior Donuts“ kaum über die Runden. So nimmt er einen weiteren Job als Fawz’ Assistent an. Der Geschäftsmann scheint von Franco sehr beeindruckt und bietet schnelle Aufstiegschancen – was Arthur wurmt. Aber Fawz macht nichts ohne Hintergedanken.
Derweil konkurrieren Randy und James zum Frust der Anwohner darum, wer die meisten Strafzettel schreiben kann. Denn bei der Polizei winkt eine Belohnung für den Cop mit den meisten Strafzetteln – und die beiden konkurrieren um den Sieg. (Text: bmk)

Alles für die Kunst
Franco versucht, seine Kunst in einer Galerie unterzubringen. Weil er aber noch nicht über die üblichen Empfehlungen verfügt, weigert sich die Galerie-Besitzerin, seine Werke überhaupt anzuschauen. Als Franco seinem Ärger Luft macht, bietet Arthur ihm an, im „Superior Donuts“ eine Ausstellung abzuhalten. Die Stammkunden haben den Plan, die Galerie-Besitzerin in den Laden zu locken.
Wer allerdings überraschend auftaucht, ist Fracos Vater, der bisher überhaupt nichts auf die Kunst seines Sohnes hält, sondern immer wollte, das sein Sohn einen „richtigen“ Job ergreift. (Text: bmk)

Als Maya ihren Laptop offen lässt, werden die Stammkunden darauf aufmerksam, dass sie in den vergangenen Monaten eine Doktorarbeit über die Gäste des „Superior Donuts“ geschrieben hat. Sie sind erbost über Mayas Analysen ihres Lebens. Franco hardert damit, dass seine Freundin Nadine recht überraschend Schluss mit ihm gemacht hat. What the Truck?
Arthur's business is threatened when Sofia (Diane Guerrero), an ambitious young entrepreneur, parks her organic food truck in front of the donut shop, becoming a hit with his customers and catching Franco's eye. Also, Franco grows frustrated trying to follow his dream of going to college.

Gibt’s ein Problem, Officer?
When a video surfaces of Randy being aggressive during a traffic stop, Franco begins to question her capabilities as a police officer. To prove that Randy is a good cop, Arthur agrees to Franco's request to tail her while she's on duty, and the night takes a dramatic turn.

Franco signs up to be a Big Brother but is disappointed when the kid, Andre, bonds more with Arthur than him.

Danke für Nichts
When Franco decides to host an orphans' Thanksgiving at the donut shop, he encourages Arthur to invite his daughter, Lucy, but Arthur will only agree if Franco invites his own estranged family member, his father, Reggie.

Alte Schule
After a fed-up Franco fires Arthur's longtime flour supplier for making offensive comments, Franco vows to find a more principled replacement, but the task proves more challenging than expected. Also, Randy reluctantly agrees to let Tush crash at her place when he rents his apartment during Pride Weekend to make extra cash.

An admission from Franco and Sofia on the eve of her first big catering gig shocks Arthur and the gang. Also, Randy and Tush take temp jobs as security guards, leading to an unexpected revelation about Fawz.
