Frank Dowling ist ein römisch-katholischer Priester, der in Chicago eine kleine Gemeinde leitet. Ihm zur Seite gestellt ist seine Haushälterin, Marie Gillespie, und die junge Novizin Schwester Stephanie. Add to the mix a FBI headquarters that never existed and you've got a case that's about as clear as Irish Stew.
