En 1972, à Bobigny, Martine, modeste employée à la RATP, aide sa fille Léa, victime d'un viol, à interrompre sa grossesse. Dénoncées, elles seront arrêtées et inculpées pour ce qui, à l'époque, était considéré comme un crime. Pour les défendre, Martine s'adresse à maître Gisèle Halimi. Celle-ci va transformer l'affaire en événement national dans un procès retentissant qui va radicalement changer la condition des femmes.
