Fin du 19ème siècle. Un médecin d'origine martiniquaise débarque dans un petit village charentais pour y prendre la succession d'un confrère. He quickly finds himself confronted by the hostility and prejudices of the inhabitants, who are more concerned by the colour of his skin than by his professional or human qualities... Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Ein aus Martinique stammender Arzt begibt sich in ein kleines Dorf in der Charente, um dort die Nachfolge eines Amtskollegen anzutreten. Schon bald wird er mit der Feindseligkeit und den Vorurteilen der Bewohner konfrontiert, denen die Hautfarbe des Neuankömmlings wichtiger ist als seine beruflichen und menschlichen Qualitäten.
